Sunflower Presents 2023 Pharmacy MTM Champion Award to the KexRx Team

Sunflower Health Plan, a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, has awarded its annual Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Champion Award to the KexRx Pharmacy and Home Care team for their outstanding service to its members in Hiawatha, Horton and Atchison, Kansas.

Each year, the Sunflower Health Plan MTM Champion Award recognizes one Kansas pharmacist who advocates for and integrates MTM services into their pharmacy practice. This year, Sunflower found the entire KexRX staff deserving of the award for their coordinated efforts around MTM.

MTM is a group of services beginning with a comprehensive medication review on behalf of a member, including all prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, as well as nutritional and herbal supplements. Pharmacists can then work collaboratively with the member and their providers to educate them on proper medication use and resolve issues.

“KexRX has designed and implemented a proven strategy that has led to more members receiving beneficial medication reviews,” said Angie Yoo, Sunflower’s director of clinical pharmacy services. “The result is more appropriate and effective medication therapy, which supports members’ overall health and wellbeing.”

KexRx empowers their pharmacy technicians to lead and champion their MTM program. By incorporating MTM into their fulfillment processes, it allows for more efficient pharmacist consultation time with patients.

“We’re honored to work with and celebrate KexRX. Their MTM structure is thoughtful, efficient and effective,” Yoo added.

Sunflower and the Kansas Pharmacists Association (KPhA) presented the MTM Champion Award to KexRx at the 2023 KPhA Annual Meeting and Trade Show at the end of August.

Sunflower has presented the MTM Champion Award each year since 2014.
