KMAP BULLETIN: 2020 CDT HCPCS Updates

Effective with dates of service on and after January 1, 2020, the following dental codes will be covered under certain benefit plans for the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) for some KMAP beneficiaries:

  • D1551: Re-cement or re-bond bilateral space maintainer - maxillary
  • D1552: Re-cement or re-bond bilateral space maintainer - mandibular
  • D1553: Re-cement or re-bond unilateral space maintainer - per quadrant
  • D2753: Crown - porcelain fused to titanium and titanium alloys
  • D5284: Removable unilateral partial denture - one-piece flexible base (including clasps and teeth) - per quadrant
  • D5286: Removable unilateral partial denture - one-piece resin (including clasps and teeth) - per quadrant

Effective December 31, 2019, the following dental codes will be end-dated:

  • D1550: Re-cement or re-bond space maintainer
  • D1555: Removal of fixed space maintainer
  • D8691: Repair of orthodontic appliance
  • D8692: Replacement of lost or broken retainer
  • D8693: Re-cement or re-bond fixed retainer
  • D8694: Repair of fixed retainers, includes reattachment

Additional revisions have been made to the following CDT code descriptions: D1510, D1520, D1575, D2794, D5213, D5214, D5221, D5222, D5223, D5224, D6066, D6067, D6076, D6077, D6094, D6194, D6214 and D6794.

Note: The effective date of the policy is January 1, 2020. The implementation of State policy by the KanCare managed care organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins. The KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log on the KMAP Bulletins page documents the MCO system status for policy implementation and any associated reprocessing completion dates, once the policy is implemented.
