KMAP BULLETIN: HCBS Rate Increase
Date: 05/27/21
KMAP GENERAL BULLETIN 21092 (PDF)
Effective with dates of service April 1, 2021, to June 30, 2021, and for state fiscal year 2022, the fees for certain Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) and Intellectual/Developmentally Disabled (I/DD) services will increase.
Effective April 1, 2021, through June 30, 2021, there will be a 5% rate increase for HCBS I/DD services. There will be an additional 2% rate increase effective July 1, 2021.
Providers should immediately begin billing the higher rate to reduce claim reprocessing. Providers will need to adjust any previously paid claims where the billed amount is not equal to or greater than the new rates. The MCOs will reprocess any claim where the billed amount is equal to or greater than the new rate. The updated codes and rates are on the final page titled HCBS I/DD Reimbursement and at the HCBS I/DD Reimbursement link (PDF) on the Provider page of the Kansas Medical Assistance (KMAP) website.
Note: The effective date of the policy is April 1, 2021. The implementation of State policy by the KanCare Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins. The KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log on the KMAP Bulletins page documents the MCO system status for policy implementation and any associated reprocessing completion dates, once the policy is implemented.
