KMAP BULLETIN: COVID-19 VEKLURY™ (Remdesivir) Antiviral Medication Coverage

Effective February 4, 2022, and retroactive to dates of service on and after December 23, 2021, HCPCS code J0248 for VEKLURY™ (remdesivir) antiviral medication will be covered when administered in an outpatient setting for ages 12 and older. Allowed provider type and specialty is Hospital/Acute Care (01/010). 

In addition, HCPCS codes 96365 and 96366 must be used for administration. Coverage for J0248 code listed above is only approved when billing with diagnosis code U07.1 or J12.82.
