KMAP BULLETIN: Hospice Service Provider Update

Effective July 27, 2022, hospice providers who submit room and board claims (T2046) through the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) website will now see a new field called the ‘Service Provider ID.’ This field is to be used to identify the referring provider through their National Provider Identifier (NPI) if the referring provider is a facility. Providers using electronic claims (such as 837P) should continue to report the referring provider in loop 2310A, 2420A, or if the provider is a facility, should report the NPI of the facility in loop 2310C with qualifier 77.

Note: The effective date of the policy is July 27, 2022. The implementation of State policy by the KanCare Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins. The KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log on the KMAP Bulletins page documents the MCO system status for policy implementation and any associated reprocessing completion dates once the policy is implemented.
