KMAP BULLETIN: Peer Support Services Coverage Update

Effective with dates of service on and after January 1, 2023, Peer Support and Parent Peer Support will continue to be covered using code H0038 (individual) with the HQ modifier (group). However, given the potential age differences of the Medicaid member benefiting from the service, the age range for code H0038 has been expanded to cover ages 0 to 999. All other provisions of delivery for this service remains in effect. See the latest Mental Health Fee-for-Service Provider Manual here for the specifics on each service.

Note: The effective date of the policy is January 1, 2023. The implementation of State policy by the KanCare managed care organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins. The KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log on the KMAP Bulletins page documents the MCO system status for policy implementation and any associated reprocessing completion dates once the policy is implemented.
