John DuPuis, MD, Receives Sunflower’s 2019 Summit Award for Excellence in Care

Sunflower Health Plan, in collaboration with its parent company, Centene Corporation, has awarded Wichita, Kansas physician, Dr. John DuPuis, with its national award for provider excellence.

Centene has sponsored the annual Summit Award for Excellence in Care since 2008, recognizing practitioners for their exemplary performance in a number of quality measures.

Sunflower selected Dr. DuPuis to recognize the extraordinary efforts he and his staff have made to deliver quality pediatric care and clinical excellence to Sunflower members. In particular, Dr. DuPuis earned the award for his quality measures of infant well care visits, lead screenings, and recommended immunizations.

"Dr. DuPuis and his staff have demonstrated the proactive engagement needed to close care gaps and educate parents on the best healthcare for their children," said Michael Stephens, president & CEO for Sunflower Health Plan. "We’re pleased to recognize him for the quality care he gives his patients."

Dr. Scott Latimer, chief medical director for Sunflower Health Plan, presented the award to Dr. DuPuis today at a luncheon honoring him and his staff at the Ascension Medical Group Via Christi’s clinic on West St. Teresa.

“Dr. DuPuis’ results demonstrate his commitment to improving health outcomes," Latimer said. "We recognize the level of effort that he and the Ascension Via Christi clinic staff make to deliver high quality health care to the families they serve."

Dr. DuPuis joined Ascension Via Christi in 1992. He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University and is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Pediatrics (Sports Medicine).
