KMAP BULLETIN: IG Provider Clean-Up - Merging IGs with Multiple Service Location IDs

Date: 04/12/21

KMAP GENERAL BULLETIN 21048 (PDF)

In March of 2018, Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) introduced the new Kansas Medicaid Modular System (KMMS) as the provider enrollment and management system for all Kansas Medicaid providers. Prior to the implementation of KMMS, group members were assigned unique KMAP Identification (ID) numbers for each affiliated group. This meant an individual provider could possibly have been given multiple KMAP ID numbers, dependent on their number of group affiliations.

Since the implementation of the new KMMS, a group member is only required to have one KMAP ID number. This number can be affiliated with multiple different groups, meaning only one KMAP ID number is necessary per individual within a group (IG) provider.

To consolidate individual within a group (IG) providers who are already enrolled with multiple active KMAP ID numbers a clean-up activity will be completed. This activity will combine the IG numbers into a single KMAP ID number that will be affiliated with groups that are active. This clean-up will merge all service locations to the most recent active service location by enrollment date or last revalidation.

KMAP will make the required updates within KMMS and for convenience, providers will not be asked to do anything. There is no change to any claims processing, and billing providers should continue to submit the performing provider (IG) National Provider Identification (NPI) number. This consolidated information will be shared with the Managed Care Organizations (MCOs)
