KMAP BULLETIN: Influenza Vaccine Coverage 2025-2026 Season Updates

Effective with dates of Service retroactive to September 1, 2024, Kansas Medicaid will cover the following Trivalent Influenza vaccination codes for the listed age ranges.

Vaccine Codes:

• $29.71 (for 19 and above)

• VFC (for 18 and younger)

  • 90472
  • 90473
  • 90474

*Note: The Medicaid reimbursement rates for vaccines and vaccine administrations will remain the same for the above eligible members. Providers should check the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) website for the most up-to-date rates.

Billing Notes:

  • Vaccines for Children (VFC) coverage applies only to 18-year and younger individuals and reimbursement will be for vaccine administration only.
  • Providers will be reimbursed for the non-VFC vaccine administration rate and the vaccine cost for patients 19 years of age and older.
  • The Vaccination Administration rate remains the same regardless of the route of administration.

Correct coding guidelines, as well as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations must be followed.

Note: The effective date of the policy is September 1, 2024. The implementation of State policy by the KanCare Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins. The KanCare Open Claims Resolution Log on the KMAP Bulletins page documents the MCO system status for policy implementation and any associated reprocessing completion dates once the policy is implemented.
