KMAP BULLETIN: REMINDER: New Provider Specialties for Community Support Waiver Program
Date: 09/01/26
KMAP GENERAL BULLETIN 26131 (PDF)
Effective for enrollment dates on or after September 1, 2026, the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) will introduce 29 new provider specialties to support implementation of the Community Support Waiver (CSW) program.
The CSW program is designed to serve individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) who:
- Meet institutional level of care criteria, but
- Require fewer supports than those provided through the comprehensive IDD waiver, and
- Can have their needs met within a legislatively established annual cost cap of $20,000
This waiver emphasizes person-centered planning, allowing participants to choose services that best support their independence and community integration. Participation in the CSW is voluntary.
For more information about the program, services, and provider resources, visit KS CSW Program.
Provider Enrollment Requirements
Provider must:
- Enroll with KMAP under the appropriate provider type and specialty codes to deliver CSW services.
- Existing providers intending to offer CSW services may add applicable specialties to their current enrollment using the appropriate taxonomy codes and required supporting documentation. Refer to the New CSW Provider Specialties section for detailed information.
- Obtain CSW-specific provider enrollment approval prior to billing for services.
- Meet all service-specific qualifications and requirements as outlined by KDADS.
Providers offering self-directed services must also ensure coordination with the designated Financial Management Services (FMS) as applicable.
