SHPBN-2018-021 Behavioral Health Utilization Management Integration and New Fax Number

BH Requests Will Have New Fax Number

ATTENTION: Behavioral health providers who serve Sunflower Health Plan members in the following programs:

  • KanCare (Medicaid)
  • Allwell (Medicare Advantage HMO product)
  • Ambetter (Healthcare Exchange)

Effective September 1, 2018, Cenpatico Behavioral Health, LLC (“Cenpatico”), Envolve People Care (EPC) will be integrating all utilization management functions to Sunflower Health Plan. Cenpatico and Sunflower Health Plan are affiliates. Cenpatico (EPC) traditionally contracted with Sunflower Health Plan to provide behavioral health services. The management of certain behavioral health functions have already transitioned from Cenpatico (EPC) to Sunflower Health Plan, and this is the final step in becoming fully integrated within the MCO.

This integration will unite best-in-class services under one name and provide several benefits to members and providers, including:

  • A fully integrated delivery model for medical and behavioral health services, supporting the needs of both members and providers.
  • An enhanced member experience with centralized medical and behavioral health services and benefits to provide continuity in care.
  • A streamlined approach to delivering service and support, with a single point of contact and benefits administration for providers.

As the September 1 effective date approaches, please note:

  • The fax number for submitting UM requests has changed to 1-844-824-7705. We will be updating this fax number on the following forms:

o   Outpatient Treatment Request

o   Outpatient Psychological Testing Authorization Request

o   Inpatient Neuropsychological Testing Authorization Request

o   Electroconvulsive Therapy Authorization Request

o   Autism Authorization Request

o   PRTF Prior Authorization Request

o   Consent for the Release of Confidential Alcohol or Drug Treatment Information

  • Please use the Inpatient Prior Auth form or Outpatient Prior Auth form as a cover sheet when submitting a fax so that the UM department is aware of the services being requested.

  • All of the forms listed above can be found on the Sunflower website under “Provider Resources.”
